Your Photos on Canvas Prints! - Scanning Guide

Having a properly scanned photograph will determine the final canvas
size & quality. Below is a set of basic guidelines to follow to ensure
that you get the best possible results.

From Paper to Digital in 5 Easy Steps.

1.Scanner Settings - Set your scanner to the default settings.

2.Resolution - For photos that are a standard print processing
size (4x6 inches) or over set the resolution to 300dpi, make sure the
“Constrain Proportions” or “Constrain Aspect ratio” tick box is checked
and set the output width and height option measurements so that they are
2 inches over the width and height size that you would like
your finished canvas to be.

For example, if you want your image to be 30”x20”, increase the
output width column to
32”. You will see that the height column
has gone up automatically. If the height column
is over 22” you
are ready for the next step, if it is under 22”, continue to increase
the
width column until the height measurement exceeds 22”.

3.Scanner Glass & Your Photo - Check your photo & the scanner
glass for any
smudges, fingerprints, dust or debris. Please clean the
scanner glass according to the
cleaning recommendation given in
the user’s manual, and clean your photo with a lint-free
cloth.

4.Placement & Preview Scan - Carefully place the photo face down
on the glass. If your
photo has been bent or has creases and folds,
put a weight – such as a book on the photo
to flatten it out. Start the ‘
preview’ scan. Your scanner will do a quick pass of the photo.

Check to make sure the image is placed upright and not at an angle,
also check that no part
of the photo is cut off and that it is free of dust
& debris.

5.Final Scan- Scan the photo in colour, even if your photo is Black & White or sepia, and
save it in JPG / JPEG format.
